Chris Kent
Research Assistant & PhD Student · University of Birmingham
I'm a research assistant and PhD student at the University of Birmingham, developing bioinformatics methods and protocols to support pathogen amplicon sequencing as part of the ARTIC Network.
About
My research focuses on the computational design of primer schemes for tiled amplicon sequencing — improving coverage, robustness to variation, and ease of use for pathogen genomic surveillance.
I work across the wet-lab and dry-lab boundary, building open-source tools that help labs generate reliable genomes from clinical and environmental samples.
